Pacific Cycle Recalls Schwinn Electric Scooter

From May 2020 through February 2021, Pacific Cycle Inc., the parent company of Schwinn, sold the "Schwinn Tone Electric Scooter" in bicycle shops nationwide and online at schwinnbikes.com and amazon.com for anywhere between $350 to $550. However, on December 15, 2021, the famously known bike company issued a recall on their e-scooter after receiving nine reports of their handlebars becoming loose or cracked. Eventually, leading to one account of an injury where bruising and abrasions occurred after a consumer fell from the e-scooter while riding after the handlebar broke.

Which Schwinn Scooters Were Recalled Due to Injury Hazards?

Pacific Cycle states that all Schwinn Tone Electric Scooter models are involved in the recall. These models include the Tone 1, Tone 2, and Tone 3. Physical identifiers on the e-scooter include both their black or white-colored e-scooters, a "T" shaped handlebar, and an approximately two-foot-long board. If you are still unsure if your e-scooter is part of the recall, you can further identify the scooter by its serial number, which happens to be located on the bottom of the board.

What Should I Do Next?

If you believe you are in possession of a recalled e-scooter, you should immediately halt all usage and contact Pacific Cycle for a free repair kit. When contacting Pacific Cycle, in order to receive your repair kit, you will need to provide the serial number of the e-scooter and a mailing address. Once provided with a valid serial number and address, the company claims that the repair kit they’ll send can be installed in five to ten minutes by the consumer and will include all the necessary tools and instructions–which will also be available in video format. However, if you are not interested in the self-repair method, Pacific Cycle also offers to take in the scooter to repair at no cost. In the case that you have received an injury due to the e-scooter, we highly recommend you contact your local medical professional to receive treatment, then contact our defective product attorneys to learn more about how we may be able to help your case.
