Two Semi Trucks Collide in Illinois, Injuring One

Truck Crash

One driver was injured when two semi trucks collided last Wednesday, CBS Chicago reported. The accident occurred in Hazel Crest, Illinois, on Interstate 294 near Ashland Avenue. The collision pinned one of the trucks up against a wall. The injured driver was taken to a local hospital; there were no other injuries. Police blocked off multiple lanes overnight, but all lanes were open by morning.

In 2017, there were 107,000 large trucks involved in crashes where injuries occurred, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. That was 5% higher than the previous year. In addition, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reported 4,102 deaths in large truck crashes, with around 17% being occupants of those vehicles.

Being in a motor vehicle accident can upend your life. Between medical bills, missed work, and the risk of permanent impairment, you could be looking at astronomical costs and a significant loss of income. However, if you are the victim in a car or truck accident, you may be entitled to compensation for damages from the insurance company of the person who hit you. If the incident occurred while you were working, you may also be entitled to workers’ compensation. In either case, the insurance company likely will do everything in its power to deny you what you’re owed. Try to face them alone and you could walk away with a small fraction of what you need to recover from your accident, if anything at all.

On average, having an experienced attorney on your side will earn you three times the amount that you would recover without an attorney.
