Why Are there So Many Data Breaches In the News?

(light music) Worrying about data breaches almost every hour of a day within a week. And the reason is because with the 21st century, think of information as the new currency. It can be monetized, and it is monetized by both companies as well as cyber criminals. And companies have not yet kept up with emerging technology. So while they collect this information, like Facebook, Google, Equifax, Yahoo, they weren't really keen on making certain that that information will protect you from cyber criminals. And the result, you had data breaches in each of those instances and it's increasing. So companies need to start spending more time to focus on protecting their information if they wanna collect it.
