Morgan & Morgan Investigates Claims for Those Impacted by HCA Healthcare Data Security Incident - data center

HCA Healthcare has announced a data security incident affecting over 11 million individuals across the country.  HCA Healthcare is one of the nation’s leading providers of healthcare services, comprising 180 hospitals and over 2,300 sites of care, including surgery centers, freestanding emergency rooms, urgent care centers, and physician clinics. Though you may not recognize the HCA Healthcare name, if you received care at a hospital or site that HCA Healthcare owns or operates, you may be affected by this data incident. A full list of impacted facilities can be found at:  https://hcahealthcare.com/about/privacy-update.dot.

HCA Healthcare has indicated that a list of private information, including patients’ names, addresses, dates of birth, contact information, and certain medical treatment information, was stolen from data systems located at an external storage location. HCA has further reported that the stolen information was subsequently made available to the public and posted on an online forum.

Not only must affected individuals now monitor their accounts and credit reports for fraudulent activity, but they should also be on the lookout for phishing emails that use the leaked data to trick recipients into revealing further sensitive information, such as passwords and financial account credentials.

The data privacy attorneys at Morgan & Morgan have led litigation for some of the largest data breach cases in the country. If you were a patient at a HCA Healthcare owned or operated entity, please contact Morgan & Morgan at 855-696-0024 or by completing our free, no-obligation case evaluation form to learn more about your potential claims.
