  • What Are Tamko Laminated Asphalt Shingles?

Tamko Heritage Series Laminated Asphalt Shingles are a 30-year limited warranty roof covering made with weathering-grade asphalt. Heritage Series Laminated Asphalt Shingles are supposed to provide years of roof protection, with features including weather resistant construction, double-layer fiberglass matting, and self-sealing asphalt strips for wind resistance.

  • What Problems Are Being Reported with Tamko Laminated Asphalt Shingles?

While Tamko Building Products, Inc. markets its shingles as providing excellent roofing protection and sells the shingles with a lengthy limited warranty, consumers have alleged that these Tamko shingle defects have manifested long before the expiration of the warranty. A number of consumers have reported issues with their Tamko Laminated Asphalt Shingles including, but not limited to, the following:

    • Cracking
    • Delamination
    • Curling
    • Warping

These Tamko shingles defects can result in the loss of the product’s advertised roof-protecting benefits, resulting in shingle rot and potential damage to your roof, ceiling, or walls. Tell-tale signs that shingles have begun to rot and go bad include:

    • Dark spots
    • Water trails
    • Soft spots under your roof after a heavy rain
    • Roof sagging
    • Other forms of water damage
  • Which Tamko Shingles Brands Have the Alleged Defects?

Consumers have complained of the above defects in the following brands of Tamko Shingles:

    • Heritage® Vintage®
    • Heritage® Woodgate®
    • Heritage® Premium
    • Heritage®
  • Is There a Tamko Shingles Recall?

Tamko Laminated Asphalt Shingles are not currently being recalled. However, that doesn’t mean that consumers cannot receive compensation for their loss of enjoyment and the costs of repair and replacement. If you have purchased defective Tamko shingle products, you may be able to recover those costs through a lawsuit.

  • What Do I Do If I Have Defective Tamko Laminated Asphalt Shingles?

If you have installed Tamko Laminated Asphalt Shingles and believe they may be defective, document all instances of cracking, delamination, curling, and warping and hold on to your proof of purchase and installation. This documentation is important if you participate in a class action against Tamko.
