Consumers who purchased a Culturelle probiotic product may have legal recourse to recover the cost of their supplement in light of allegations that the product does not live up to its advertised health claims.
According to these allegations, the manufacturer made false and misleading statements about the health benefits of its Culturelle probiotic supplements, which are supposed to aid in digestive and immune health.
Culturelle Effectiveness Questioned
Amerifit, Inc., manufactures, markets and sells a popular line of “probiotic” supplements under the Culturelle brand name. Amerifit claims that Culturelle supports the immune system and boosts overall digestive health by helping with gas, bloating, and occasional diarrhea, and by restoring the “natural balance” of bacteria in the digestive tract. The company also claims that these products can promote healthy intestinal flora and help replenish good bacteria in patients taking antibiotics.
Culturelle probiotics which are sold under these claims include the following:
- Culturelle Natural Health and Wellness
- Culturelle for Kids
- Culturelle Digestive Health
- Culturelle Dairy Free Health and Wellness
If Culturelle is not working as advertised, consumers who purchased any of these products may be able to participate in a class action lawsuit, in which are large number of consumers would collectively file a claim in court to seek recovery for the cost of their probiotic supplement.
