Morgan & Morgan's Kathryn Barnett Honored with Best of the Bar Award

Morgan & Morgan is proud to announce that our own Kathryn Barnett, the managing partner of our Nashville office, has been selected as one of Nashville Business Journal’s 2016 Best of the Bar Award winners.

Barnett is among the list of more than 80 winners, and is one of the few plaintiffs’ attorneys to earn this honor.

For 20 years, Barnett has been taking on insurance companies and big business. She earned one of her biggest wins — $120 million in combined judgments — when she was lead trial counsel in two class-action trials in a large, multi-district litigation arising from the mishandling of remains at Tri-State Crematory. She also helped a family take on two multi-billion dollar corporations in a wrongful death case, winning a $26 million jury verdict. Barnett has led many other successful cases.

A much-lauded member of our team, Barnett is also active in the community. She is a member of the executive committee of the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court, as well as a former president of the Nashville Lawyers’ Association for Women, former first vice president of the Nashville Bar Association, former Vice President of the Tennessee Association for Justice, and former Chair of the Tennessee Judicial Conference’s Bench/Bar Committee. Barnett grew up in North Carolina and graduated from Davidson College with honors in 1989. She graduated from Vanderbilt School of Law in 1992, where she achieved the highest grade in the class in Torts I and Jurisprudence.

The Nashville Business Journal will publish its Best of the Bar special publication on June 10, highlighting all the leading lawyers on the list. Barnett and the others will attend a special awards reception that month, too. The full list of attorneys honored is available now on the website.

This is the 14th year the Journal has been honoring Middle Tennessee’s leading lawyers and corporate counsel.
