Morgan & Morgan Included on Inaugural 'America's Elite Trial Lawyers' List

Morgan & Morgan is pleased to announce that the National Law Journal and Law.com have selected the firm to be named on the first annual “America’s Elite Trial Lawyers” list. Though more than 100 law firms were initially considered, Morgan & Morgan was selected among the final 50 groups that not only continually display excellence in representing plaintiffs in court, but who have received substantial victories on behalf of their clients and devote at least 50 percent of their resources to plaintiffs’ litigation.

“To be included with the other 49 firms from across America is both humbling and inspiring,” John Morgan said. “We have spent our entire legal career fighting injustice and being the voice of the powerless. This honor makes all the years worthwhile.”

Each firm nominated for inclusion was required to submit an essay to The National Law Journal, as well as meet several other criteria. Among these requirements, qualifying law firms must have won at least one significant case for plaintiffs between January 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.

According to The National Law Journal, a significant win is characterized as one where a major verdict or settlement was reached in a case in which the stakes were particularly high, such as where a “substantial amount of money was at stake or the outcome could have affected litigation strategy or result in similar case nationally.”

Furthermore, it was mandatory that each law firm considered for the list devote at least half of their litigation resources to plaintiffs’ work and earn half or more of its revenue from plaintiffs-side activities. Other criteria included:

  • Outcomes of significant cases, including key rulings and settlements
  • Verdict and settlement amounts, as well as size of punitive damages
  • Complexity of cases and procedures
  • Willingness to take on large cases and persevere in the face of adversity
  • Volume of cases handled
  • Impact of litigation results
  • Firm size in relation to impact of result or recovery amount

According to Morgan, this award is a testament to the time and sweat put in by the firm’s entire team of more than 250 attorneys and their support staff, and is not to be accepted lightly.

“For the lawyers and staff this award is the culmination of many long hours of work, preparation and trials,” Morgan said. “This honor was earned by the whole firm. It is very significant to us all and greatly appreciated.”
