BRP Snowmobile Recall

Snowmobiles offer utility like none other, but only if they're manufactured safely and in a way that won’t cause injury to the rider during operation.

Unfortunately, one popular brand of snowmobiles, Ski-Doo, is currently the subject of a recall after a manufacturing error that has caused several riders to sustain serious injuries. According to the recall, the Expedition, Grand Touring, Renegade, Skandic, and Tundra models contain a defect in the speedometer that causes the meter only to display half of the vehicle’s speed during operation, leading to a loss of control and an eventual crash. BRP, the manufacturer of Ski-Doo products, has since offered repair services for the affected models, but this is only a band-aid fix to the much larger problem: an organization acting negligently and placing unsafe products in the hands of consumers.

Product liability laws exist to protect consumers from the consequences of an unsafe or defective product that finds its way to the open market, and all manufacturers are legally liable for any harm their products cause once they are sold. BRP should have enforced stricter product safety regulations in their manufacturing process to avoid a situation like this, but instead, they chose to act unethically and expose their customers to a risk of injury. Their actions, or lack of action, can cause real-life consequences for innocent families who are using their Ski-Doo product for its intended purpose, which is nothing short of an unacceptable offense. If one of these products causes you harm, you can potentially file a lawsuit against the manufacturer, and our attorneys are standing by to ensure that it goes as smoothly as possible.

While a lawsuit can’t reverse the damage, holding the at-fault organization accountable for its negligence can keep families across the country safe from harm and set an example for others to follow. Fortunately, Morgan & Morgan has some of the best product liability attorneys in the business, and we’re committed to recovering every cent of the compensation our clients deserve. If a Ski-Doo product injured you or someone close to you after the speedometer defect caused them to lose control, our attorneys are ready to take your call and help you find success in your legal challenge.

  • What Snowmobile Products Were Recalled?

Multiple Ski-Doo models were recalled after they were found to contain a defect in the speedometer that caused the vehicle to display half of its true speed. Drivers who were unaware of the defect had an elevated risk of losing control and crashing, forcing the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to issue a safety warning and official recall. However, not all of Ski-Doo’s products contain the manufacturing error, only the following models:

    • 2022 Ski-Doo Expedition 600 ACE
    • 2022 Ski-Doo Expedition 900 ACE
    • 2022 Ski-Doo Grand Touring 600 ACE
    • 2022 Ski-Doo Grand Touring 900 ACE
    • 2022 Ski-Doo Renegade 600 ACE
    • 2022 Ski-Doo Renegade 900 ACE
    • 2022 Ski-Doo Skandic 600 ACE
    • 2022 Ski-Doo Skandic 900 ACE
    • 2022 Ski-Doo Tundra 600 ACE

All of the previously mentioned models were sold at Ski-Doo dealers across the country in various colors. If you recently purchased a Ski-Doo product and are unsure of what model it is, you can check the vehicle’s side panel where the model name is printed. Additionally, BRP has offered repair services for all affected models, and you should avoid using your product until you’ve received that service to prevent an unforeseen injury.

  • Are Ski-Doo Products Dangerous?

While not all of Ski-Doo’s products contain defects, the 2022 Expedition, Grand Touring, Renegade, Skandic, and Tundra models contain manufacturing defects that make the vehicles unsafe for their intended purpose. While operating the snowmobile, the speedometer won’t display the true speed and can easily confuse the driver, potentially resulting in a crash or injury. Some individuals may believe that they don’t need the speedometer to operate the vehicle safely, but this is merely a gamble, as high speeds and snowy conditions often don’t mix well. If you or someone you know owns one of the affected Ski-Doo models, you should avoid using it until you’ve received a repair from the manufacturer or found a safer alternative.

  • How Can a Lawyer Help?

You might think that a lawyer isn’t worth it in a situation like this because the damage has already been done, but you should realize that this is an opportunity for change. By seeking to hold BRP accountable for their manufacturing mistakes, you’re showing the world that no organization can get away with this kind of behavior, regardless of their size or influence. When another company or manufacturer thinks they can get away with lackluster safety precautions, they’ll see that BRP was forced to answer for their actions and, hopefully, choose to do the right thing. By seeking to hold BRP accountable for their manufacturing mistakes, you’re showing the world that no organization can get away with this kind of behavior, regardless of their size or influence.

Additionally, a lawsuit can help you recover the damage you sustained if the snowmobile product injured you after the defect caused you to lose control. However, this is only if you have an experienced attorney by your side, one who understands and is well-versed in all aspects of product liability law. All of Morgan & Morgan’s offices are staffed with these very attorneys, and we’re prepared to do everything in our power to ensure that you’re compensated for the harm you endured at the hands of the manufacturer. Not only that, but our attorneys are backed by the resources of America’s largest personal injury firm, meaning that they have the capability to litigate longer and stronger than any other law firm.

  • Contact Morgan & Morgan

In the most difficult moments of your life, Morgan & Morgan has your back. BRP’s failure to properly safety-test their products prior to sale isn’t your burden to bear, as they’re legally responsible for the harm their products cause once they’re sold in the open market. As a consumer, you’re entitled to recover damages if their products caused you harm, and what better way to do that than teaming up with a firm that’s committed to getting the best possible results for their clients. BRP might believe they can escape the liability of their actions, but with one of our product liability attorneys on the case, it’s more than likely that they’ll have to answer for their injustices and compensate the victims for what they’ve been through.

If you were injured by a product manufactured by BRP or any other snowmobile vehicle, our attorneys are here to help you navigate through the process and toward success. Contact us today to get started.
