Biography Overview

Richard A. Lavery is an attorney in Morgan & Morgan, P.A.’s Melbourne, Florida office.  Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, he completed his undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Arts graduating summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh.  Following his graduation from college Richard moved to Florida where he attended Florida State University College of Law. 

Since graduating law school Richard's primary focus has been in the Personal Injury field as he has a passion for being the voice of those in need. Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan he worked for two notable Personal Injury law firms. He has worked on cases in both the pre-litigation and litigation departments handling multiple types of claims including, but not limited to: motor vehicle accidents, dog bites, and slip and fall claims. Additionally, Richard has worked in the Administrative Law arena assisting in  litigating Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability claims from inception through Final Hearing. His vast experience in the Personal Injury field  has allowed him to develop a deep understanding of different injuries and illnesses that one can suffer, and the impacts those injuries have on a person’s quality of life. Richard understands that Personal Injury claims require zealous advocacy and skill both in and out of the courtroom to obtain favorable results for his clients.  

In addition to the experience notated above, while employed at Michles & Booth, P.A, in Pensacola, Florida  Richard assisted in litigating a high-profile class action lawsuit, which settled for over 17 million dollars. The class action lawsuit revolved around an explosion at the Escambia County jail. 

In January 2021, Richard  joined the civil trial litigation team where he continues to protect the legal rights of injured victims.  In his spare time Richard enjoys rooting for his Pittsburgh sport teams (Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins) and running.
