Biography Overview

Attorney, Melissa Alzate received her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law in May 2017; she earned a Bachelor in Arts in Legal Studies with a Minor in Political Science from the University of Central Florida in December 2014.

During her time at Florida Coastal School of Law, she received a Research, Writing, and Drafting Certificate; Pro Bono Honors Award; and earned a position on the Moot Court Honor Board through her display of exemplary oral advocacy and writing skills. As part of the Honor Board, Mrs. Alzate traveled nationally to compete at the highest levels of appellate advocacy. She represented Florida Coastal School of Law in the Hispanic National Bar Association Moot Court Competition, where she received Best Petitioner Brief Award. As President of the Hispanic American Law Student Association, Mrs. Alzate focused on promoting the professional needs and goals of law students of Hispanic descent. She also served as a Certified Legal Intern with the Florida Coastal Family Law Clinic and Immigration and Human Rights Clinic. Prior to joining the firm, Mrs. Alzate began her legal career representing clients in matters of civil litigation including: foreclosure defense, debt defense, and bankruptcy.

Mrs. Alzate is a passionate animal advocate. During her free time, she volunteers with various dog rescue organizations in Central Florida.

Mrs. Alzate loves her husband and three rescue dogs; Matea, Judge, and Williamsburg.

Attorney Alzate has a strong work ethic driven by her desire to help others. Her results oriented style and habit of looking at cases from all angles makes her an essential part the team. Attorney Alzate speaks Spanish fluently.
