Biography Overview

Matt Smith is an attorney in Morgan & Morgan’s Pensacola office where he represents individuals in personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, Mr. Smith practiced general liability defense and commercial litigation, defending corporations and insurance companies in matters across the state of Florida. Mr. Smith also previously served as an Assistant State Attorney in Hillsborough County, Florida, where he tried numerous jury and bench trials involving both felony and misdemeanor offenses. He now uses his diverse experience to fight for the rights of individuals who have been injured by the negligence of others.

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Mr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with honors. He then obtained his law degree from Baylor Law School. While at Baylor Law, Mr. Smith was an active participant in the mock trial program and received several awards for his trial advocacy skills.

Mr. Smith is licensed to practice law in Florida and Texas and is a member of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association. Since 2021, Mr. Smith has also been consistently recognized by his colleagues for his work in litigation in The Best Lawyers in America, an annual publication that highlights the top legal talent in America based on peer reviews.
