Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan’s complex litigation unit and focusing on qui tam whistleblower cases nationwide, Priscilla Roberts worked for two and half years at the Florida Office of the Attorney General as an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division. As part of her job, she was responsible for investigating and prosecuting civil, white-collar crime cases under the Florida Deceptive & Unfair Trade Practices Act, the Florida RICO Act, and the Florida False Claims Act. Her duties included drafting complaints, briefs, subpoenas, memoranda, and settlement agreements, as well as briefing Attorney General Pam Bondi on matters involving unauthorized customer billing.
While for the Attorney General’s office, Ms. Roberts participated in a multi-state investigation of four major cellular service providers regarding the unauthorized billing of customers. She served on a seven state Executive Committee which led the investigation and negotiations on behalf of all fifty state attorneys general offices. As a member of the committee, Ms. Roberts coordinated efforts with the Federal Trade Commission, Federal Communications Commission and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This resulted in a landmark $105 million dollar settlement with AT&T in late 2014 as well as three other multi-million dollar settlements with Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint.
Ms. Roberts also participated as Florida’s lead counsel in the massive qui tam case investigating for-profit universities, United States of America, et al. v. Education Management, et al. As part of the lawsuit, she worked with six other states and the Department of Justice.
Ms. Roberts is a former competitive tennis player with a love for dogs who likes to stay active in her free time. She graduated from Florida State University College of Law in 2012 and is licensed to practice in the state of Florida. She attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington on a full athletic scholarship for her undergraduate studies and has loved living next to the beach ever since.
