Biography Overview
Douglas Acklin is a supervisory attorney who recently has led a team of Morgan & Morgan Electronic Discovery and Litigation specialists. Recently his team was involved in the class action, multi-district litigation against national Opioid manufacturers, distributors, and well-known pharmacy chains. This has resulted in a number of large settlements from pharmaceutical companies such as Purdue Pharma, and the large corner drug store chains. It is hoped the settlement funds will begin to mitigate the long term Opioid crisis affecting many participating States, and some 1,800 municipalities and tribal units dealing with addiction tragedies.
Mr. Acklin was in solo practice in the Washington, D.C and Northern Virginia area for many years. His practice included Federal Court representation and Federal Agency Discrimination cases. He also represented Vaccine Injury claimants before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. In State court matters, he represented criminal felony defendants, and a variety of personal plaintiff's matters including automobile accidents.
Douglas is a retired Air Force Colonel. He is a Gulf War veteran and was deployed often for operations and exercises in many Persian Gulf countries.
