We can help.

A pickup truck collided with two tractor-trailers on Interstate 44 outside of Sullivan, Missouri last Wednesday, KMOV 4 reported. The driver of the truck and one of the semi drivers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened just before 2 p.m. near route 185. A tractor-trailer carrying an oversized load was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The truck then lost control and drove through a cable median, crashing head-on into another semi truck, at which point one of the tractor-trailers caught fire. The highway was closed in both directions, with one westbound lane reopening about 90 minutes later.

A motor vehicle accident can be especially devastating for a truck driver. Between mounting medical bills, lost miles, and damage to the truck, these crashes can ruin a driver financially.

Thankfully, an injured party may be entitled to compensation for all of these costs and more. If they are an employee of a trucking company (as opposed to an independent contractor or owner-operator), they may also be entitled to collect workers’ compensation.

Recovering these damages, though, can mean dealing with an insurance company that is dead-set on denying the full value of a claim. Battling the insurance company alone is a tall order, and the injured party may walk away with a small fraction of what they are owed. In these situations, it’s best to consult a licensed attorney.

On average, people who hire an attorney after a crash recover three times as much as those who don’t.
