National plaintiffs’ law firm Morgan & Morgan has filed a class action lawsuit against Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (MSGE), alleging their negligent data collection and security practices led to a data breach that exposed sensitive information on millions of guests of MSGE properties.

MSGE owns and operates Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, the Beacon Theatre and the Chicago Theatre, among other properties. On June 16, the cybercriminal organization ShinyHunters announced they had hacked into MSGE’s computer networks and exfiltrated over 42GB of compressed data and millions of consumer records. Between 2024 and 2026, the representative of the proposed class attended three events at the Beacon Theatre, as well as many events at The Sphere in Las Vegas – which is also owned by MSGE owner James Dolan – and is filing the class action lawsuit on behalf of the people who may have been impacted by the breach.

Consumers only became aware of the breach when their information was posted on the Dark Web. The complaint states that the stolen files may include facial recognition and biometric information.

“Our lawsuit alleges that Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. was a particularly attractive target for cybercriminals due to their expansive and invasive data collection. MSGE allegedly should have known that collecting facial recognition and other data through their sprawling surveillance machine would attract cyberattacks and should have taken enhanced security measures to protect that data. With this lawsuit, we hope to not only protect everyone who was impacted, but to compel MSGE to change their conduct so this doesn’t happen again.”
