More than 250 People Independently Submitted the Same Name
[Orlando, FL] — Last month, John Morgan, founder of Morgan & Morgan, launched a contest inviting Americans to submit a name for a new third political party for the people who feel left behind by both major parties. The contest received more than 35,000 submissions from across the country.
Today, Morgan announced the winning name: The Common Ground Party. People who join the Common Ground Party will be known as “Grounders.”
Notably, more than 250 people from different places and different backgrounds submitted this name independently.
“The contest was a great exercise,” said Morgan. “It showed me that many of you, like me, believe our political system is broken. That we agree on more than we disagree on, yet nothing ever gets done. So, this is step one. Going forward, we will try to start registering people for the party.”
Per the official sweepstakes rules, administered by Sweeppea in compliance with all applicable regulations, the $100,000 prize will be divided equally among the winning entrants who successfully return the required release, which has been sent to each person who submitted the winning name.
Following his recent decision not to run for Governor of Florida, Morgan has refocused his efforts toward systemic political change. Having previously spearheaded successful, bipartisan constitutional amendments to legalize medical marijuana and raise the state minimum wage to $15 an hour, which passed with 71% and 61% of the vote respectively, Morgan believes everyday people are hungry for a common-sense alternative to the current divisive, political climate.
