Morgan & Morgan has been retained by several individuals who were severely injured during a boat explosion that occurred near Haulover Beach marina in Miami, Florida on May 9, 2026.

According to news reports, EMS units responded to reports of a possible boat explosion near Haulover Marina, and 11 people were subsequently transported to the hospital. Witnesses claimed that the blast knocked several people off the boat and left them with burns.

A statement follows from Morgan & Morgan founder John Morgan and attorney Ryan Will:

“What was supposed to be a fun day with family and friends turned into a nightmare. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families, and we are investigating how this could have happened. Morgan & Morgan is examining all possible causes of this explosion, including product failures, refueling errors, and issues with the fuel system that could have caused the accumulation of fuel vapors in the hull. We believe this catastrophe could have been prevented and will fight to hold all entities that may have contributed to the explosion accountable.”

Morgan & Morgan’s Fire Litigation practice is spearheading the investigation. The practice has a long track record of securing justice for those impacted by fires and explosions caused by the negligence of property owners and contractors, including a $17 million verdict last April for a mother and child arising from a fire in Gainesville, Florida. The fire practice is also working closely with the firm’s maritime lawyers, who handle cases related to boating incidents and unsafe vessels.
