[Bessemer, AL] – A Jefferson County jury awarded $1.8 million on October 20,2026, to an Alabama mother of five who suffered severe back injuries when a Circle K fuel tanker struck her vehicle at an intersection in Bessemer. Morgan & Morgan attorneys Charles Greene, Lisa Bailey and Bernie Brannan represented the plaintiff, securing the verdict after a three-day trial.

On November 10, 2023, the plaintiff was turning left from Lakeshore Parkway onto Shannon Wenonah Road when the fuel tanker struck her vehicle after running a red light. The collision left her with severe back injuries that have required extensive treatment and ongoing pain management.

“As a mother of five, our client has had to navigate the challenges of living with ongoing pain while continuing to care for her family,” said Morgan & Morgan founder John Morgan and attorney Charles Greene. “No verdict can undo what she has been through, but we hope this verdict provides her a sense of justice for all that was taken from her. We are proud to have stood by her and fought to ensure she got her day in court.”

Throughout the trial, the defense attempted to downplay the plaintiff’s injuries and question her credibility, but Morgan & Morgan presented evidence and expert testimony that highlighted her ongoing pain and its impact on her daily life and family.

The case was filed in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama, Bessemer Division, Case No. 68-CV-2024-900184.00.
