[Oakland, MD] – A Garrett County jury awarded a $416,884.41 verdict to a 78-year-old Addison, PA man who was injured in a 2024 crash with a lumber truck. Represented by Morgan & Morgan attorneys Zach White, Walt Foster and Hector Oropeza, the plaintiff declined the defense’s highest pre-trial offer of $75,000 before the jury ultimately awarded him more than five times that amount.

On August 23, 2024, the plaintiff was riding his motorcycle in Garrett County when a lumber truck owned by G & W Lumber, Inc. turned in front of him, causing a collision. The plaintiff suffered a painful Monteggia fracture in his arm, for which he underwent an open reduction internal fixation surgery.

“The injury our client suffered in this crash has caused him permanent pain and discomfort. Most notably, it impacted his ability to be present with his late wife during her last days,” said Morgan & Morgan founder John Morgan and attorney Zach White. “We’re pleased our client was able to have his day in court. The jury ultimately saw through the defense’s attempts to minimize his injury and awarded him a just verdict.”

The case was heard by Judge Justin Gregory in the Circuit Court for Garrett County, Maryland, Case No. C-11-CV-25-000076. The defense was represented by attorney Chuck Wilson of Wilson & Forte Law.
