What It Means to Have a Contingency-Fee Lawyer: No Fee Unless We Win for You
The greatest challenge of finding a lawyer to represent you isn’t finding a good lawyer, it’s finding a good lawyer you can afford. At Morgan & Morgan, our goal is to be for the people, and to us that begins with offering our quality legal representation at a price anyone can afford.
We work exclusively on a contingency-fee basis, meaning our clients don’t owe us anything unless we win your case. If we win for you, we receive a reasonable percentage of the verdict or settlement. This way, no one with a valid case is ever turned away because they can’t afford us.
What Compensation Could I Get After an Accident?
People injured in an accident caused by the negligence of another are entitled to compensation to possibly get their lives back on track. As a result, if you’re cruising down the 101 and get into a car accident caused by another person, you may be able to recover compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering, lost wages, property damage, and emotional suffering, depending on the circumstances of your case.
In the most severe accidents in which a person is killed, their loved ones could recover compensation for some of the damages mentioned above, in addition to damages for wrongful death, loss of consortium, and in some cases, even punitive damages.
The value of each case is different depending on the circumstances of the incident, so it’s difficult to know what your case is worth without consulting an attorney. Aside from handling the legal procedure involved with your case, part of an attorney's job is determining the true value of your claim.
Putting a price tag on property damage and medical bills is simpler than calculating emotional distress and pain and suffering. “Economic damages,” as the former are known, require adding up the dollar value to determine compensation, but “non-economic damages,” as pain and suffering are known, don’t have easily identifiable dollar values. This is where an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer can help, because the attorney will have experience assessing the value of economic and non-economic damages.
