Morgan & Morgan has filed a lawsuit on behalf of the family of Megan Dellinger, a mother of two, who tragically died at the age of 27 from a pulmonary embolism. The lawsuit alleges that her providers at UF Health Women’s Specialists – Jacksonville and Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville failed to apply the proper standard of care for her despite her well-documented pre-existing condition.

In November 2024, after a positive at-home pregnancy test, Megan Dellinger sought care at UF Health Women’s Specialists – Jacksonville and Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. Despite allegedly telling providers about a pre-existing blood-clotting disorder and two emergency room visits for pain related to the condition, she was allegedly discharged each time without the evaluations and medication that could have saved her life.

Two weeks after her emergency room visits, Dellinger was found unresponsive at home. She passed away at the hospital along with her unborn twins. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death was from a pulmonary embolism.

The statement below is attributable to Morgan & Morgan founder John Morgan and attorney Andrew Knopf:

“Megan Dellinger was a beloved wife and mother who did everything right. Hospitals and clinics have policies and procedures to protect patients like Megan.  We believe Megan’s death could have been prevented. We are committed to getting answers for Megan’s family and holding those responsible accountable for this tragedy.”
