Morgan & Morgan is Investigating the LendingTree Data Breach Announced on or Around June 10, 2024

Morgan & Morgan’s industry leading data privacy attorneys are investigating financial services firm LendingTree regarding its recent data breach (sometimes referred to as a data security incident). The LendingTree data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 190 million individuals.

We are investigating, among other things, the following:

  • how LendingTree acquired the sensitive information;
  • whether LendingTree should have had the sensitive information;
  • why LendingTree stored this sensitive information in an Internet-accessible environment;
  • whether LendingTree encrypted the sensitive information it stored in an Internet-accessible environment;
  • whether LendingTree deleted sensitive information it no longer had a reasonable need to maintain in an Internet-accessible environment;
  • whether LendingTree implemented appropriate and adequate security measures to protect the sensitive information it stored in an Internet-accessible environment; and
  • whether LendingTree has provided affected individuals adequate protection and compensation for any harms they have experienced as a result of the data breach.

On or about June 10, 2024, LendingTree reported confirmed that their company it experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information stored by its subsidiary QuoteWizard was accessed by an unauthorized party via the Internet.
