This contributes to 26 percent of dog bite accidents in Florida, according to the Florida DOH.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the typical injuries and diseases associated with dog attacks may include:

• Tetanus infection

Up to 18 percent of dog bites become infected with bacteria, according to the CDC. Rabies, although rare, is an especially serious disease and is fatal if not treated immediately.
