[Bartow, FL] – A Polk County jury has awarded Lewis Brown, 62, a $5,780,191.65 verdict for injuries he suffered in a 2021 crash. Represented by Morgan & Morgan attorneys Patrick Chucri, David Henry and Rick Block, Mr. Brown declined the defense’s highest pre-trial settlement offer of $50,000 before ultimately being awarded the multi-million-dollar verdict.

On January 21, 2021, Mr. Brown was driving near the intersection of Buckeye Loop Road and Country Club Road in Winter Haven, FL when the defendant driver pulled out of the intersection and collided with him. Mr. Brown suffered severe injuries, including disc herniations in his neck that necessitated a three-level disc replacement and cervical fusion. The jury awarded Mr. Brown 100 percent of his past and future medical expenses.

“This case was about a hardworking man, Mr. Brown, who works as a deli meat cutter, and how a negligent driver caused him devastating injuries that changed his life forever,” said Morgan & Morgan attorneys John Morgan and Patrick Chucri. “We felt strongly that the full picture of what happened here, including all of the evidence and testimony from Mr. Brown’s doctors, supported a fair and significant verdict for our client. We’re pleased the jury agreed so that Mr. Brown can hopefully move on with his life.”

The case was heard by Judge Michael P. McDaniel, Case No. 53-2022-CA-001593. AllState, Mr. Brown’s uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance carrier, was represented by Richard Lippert and Arielle Brandt of Evangelo, Brandt & Lippert P.A.
