How Does The SSA Define Disability?
The SSA uses 5 criteria to determine eligibility for the insurance:
- Earn less than $1,260 per month (as of 2020)
- Have a restricted ability to perform basic work (walking, lifting)
- Be diagnosed with a condition included in the SSA’s list of disabling medical conditions, or one equally as severe
- Be unable to perform any of your previous work
- Be unable to secure gainful employment in another field or capacity
What Is the Appeals Process?
