Twin brothers filed lawsuits Friday against Universal Studios, alleging they were injured when a Harry Potter-themed ride at Epic Universe malfunctioned on Christmas Day last year.

The 45-year-old twins were at Universal’s Epic Universe park with family on December 25, 2025 when they rode Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry together. The lawsuits, one on behalf of each brother, allege the ride vehicle stopped abruptly due to a malfunction, jostling them erratically in their seats and causing significant back and neck injuries.

Content creators and Reddit users have reported similar issues with Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry since it opened in April 2025, including the ride being shut down for maintenance on its opening day and guests being stuck on the ride after abrupt stops for an hour and a half or more.

The complaints are attached, and below is a statement from Morgan & Morgan founder John Morgan and attorney John V. Scatuorchio about the case:

“The most important job of a theme park is to keep its guests safe. Instead, Universal allegedly operated a ride that had been plagued by repeated malfunctions, glitches and hard stops since it opened. Our clients continue to seek treatment for their injuries, which are impacting their everyday lives. They have filed these lawsuits to hold Universal accountable for a safety incident we allege was entirely preventable.”
