Injured?

We can help.

Morgan & Morgan has filed a lawsuit in Missouri on behalf of a young man who was catastrophically injured when a firework exploded in his hand upon ignition.

On July 1, 2025, the plaintiff, 25, purchased a “Master Ballistic Rocket” from Xtreme Fireworks in Dexter, Missouri. According to the petition, the firework exploded immediately after the plaintiff attempted to light it, causing injuries that required a partial amputation of his hand. He has since undergone extensive reconstructive surgery.

The lawsuit alleges that the defendant knowingly sold a dangerously defective firework in violation of state and federal statutes. It further alleges that the product’s defective design or manufacturing allowed highly volatile flash powder to leak from inside the device or remain on the exterior wrapper, creating a severe and predictable risk of premature explosion.

A copy of the petition is attached, and below is a statement from Morgan & Morgan founder John Morgan and attorney Emery Reusch:

“Our lawsuit alleges that this catastrophic injury was not a tragic accident, but the foreseeable result of a company putting profit over public safety by selling a dangerous product. These fireworks are allegedly dangerously overloaded with pyrotechnic material, which allegedly contributed to our client’s permanent physical and emotional consequences of horrifying disfigurement. We are committed to holding all responsible parties accountable for their alleged reckless disregard for consumer safety.”
