Meet Joe Kahn
From his earliest days, Joe Kahn has been guided by a strong belief in public service and the power of persuasive advocacy. Inspired by the idea that everyone succeeds when communities succeed together, he began serving early by working with local and state government leaders and supporting a state senate campaign before college. While attending UCLA, Joe deepened his commitment to service by volunteering more than 80 hours at Mark Twain Middle School, a Title I school serving low-income families. He also served as a resident assistant in campus housing, where he was responsible for the safety and well-being of more than 300 students. In recognition of his impact, Joe received the prestigious Chancellor’s Service Award, an honor awarded to fewer than 1% of graduating students.
Alongside his dedication to service, Joe built an exceptional record as a competitive advocate. He was a former state finalist and nationally ranked college debater, and as captain of the UCLA Debate Team, he led the Bruins to their first-ever invitation to the World Debate Championship. His accomplishments earned him the George Oliver Most Valuable Debater Award. In law school, Joe continued to combine advocacy with service, working closely with the courts and leading student organizations focused on public interest. He served as President of the Public Interest Law Foundation, raising more than ninety thousand dollars to support law students pursuing unpaid public interest work, and he also gave back by coaching and judging mock trial competitions at both the high school and law school levels.
Joe’s law school career was marked by extraordinary achievement. He served as President of Mock Trial, Vice President of Moot Court, and as a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution team. In his final year, Joe achieved an unprecedented 24 and 0 record across all three disciplines, winning national championships in both Mock Trial and Moot Court. He was named a National Academic All-American Advocate, an honor awarded to only eight law students nationwide. Known for his energy, compassion, and relentless preparation, Joe brings the same commitment to excellence and service to his legal practice. He is not your average Joe.
