Meet Michael Rizo
Michael Rizo discovered his passion for courtroom litigation during his second year of law school when he joined the mock trial team. Demonstrating natural leadership and advocacy skills, he was elected president of the trial team and represented his school in four major competitions. During his competitive tenure, Michael contributed to multiple championship runs, including back-to-back first-place finishes at the prestigious Chester Bedell Mock Trial Competition, where he also earned an individual Best Advocate Award. Following graduation, he continued to give back to the program by coaching student teams across four competitions, guiding them to deep tournament runs and securing a third consecutive Chester Bedell victory as a coach.
Upon completing his legal education, Michael launched his career in public service as an Assistant Public Defender in Broward County. Over nearly two years, he dedicated himself to protecting individual rights in the criminal justice system, managing a high-volume active caseload of roughly 200 cases at a time. Through strategic motion practice and skilled negotiations, Michael consistently secured favorable pretrial outcomes for his clients. He also brought nine cases to trial, achieving exceptional results with only a single guilty verdict across those proceedings.
Today, Michael brings that fierce trial experience, high-volume courtroom preparation, and tireless dedication to the civil litigation team at Morgan & Morgan. Transitioning his practice to civil advocacy, he channels his deep passion for justice into fighting for injured clients and everyday individuals navigating difficult times. Michael takes pride in providing approachable, client-focused representation while leveraging his proven trial record to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome in every case.
