Meet Martin J. Jaffe

Martin Jaffe was born in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1965. He graduated from Florida State University in 1987, then worked for several years as a claims adjuster for a national insurance company and as well as a parole officer. Mr. Jaffe graduated from the University of Akron School of Law in 1998. While in law school he was a national finalist two years in a row in the ATLA National Trial Tournament, and named best advocate in the NITA Tournament of Champions Trial Competition. He was also an Associate Editor of the Akron Law Review.

After law school, Mr. Jaffe moved to Florida and was a partner in one of Florida’s leading defense firms defending catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases nationwide for large corporations before joining Morgan & Morgan. Mr. Jaffe now represents victims of serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, product defects, as well as carbon monoxide poisoning events. He has been lead trial counsel to verdict in cases at both state and federal court levels, and is admitted to practice in all Florida state and federal courts.

Recently he has obtained verdicts of $2.9 million (motor vehicle crash), $951,000 (motor vehicle crash), $534,000 (pedestrian struck by vehicle), $2.54 million (carbon monoxide poisoning), as well as settlements for his clients in the amounts of $7.25 million (gypsum stack liner failure), $5.5 million (tire failure), $1.8 million (fuel tank rupture), $1.3 million (carbon monoxide poisoning), $1.3 million (airbag defect), $1.25 million (pedestrian struck by motor vehicle), $1.1 million (electrical component failure and fire), $1.2 million (tire failure), $800,000 (tire failure), $750,000 (tire failure), $550,000 (smoke detector failure), $520,000 (metallurgical component failure), $417,500 (motor vehicle crash) and $380,000 (motor vehicle crash). Mr. Jaffe has also been retained as counsel on cases in Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Colorado, Arkansas, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Mr. Jaffe was selected by Florida Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite Civil Trial Law in 2016 and has earned the AV® Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the preeminent national publication in the legal field every year since 2005. According to Martindale-Hubbell, “An AV rating is a significant accomplishment – a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence. This rating is based upon evaluations by other lawyers and is the highest ranking attainable by an attorney for ability and ethics in the practice of law. It is a distinction reserved for a select few in the legal community.” Further, Mr. Jaffe has been rated AV in the Martindale-Hubbell Judicial Edition 2017 and selected as one of Orlando Life Magazine’s Top Lawyers in Orlando for 2012 and 2013.

Mr. Jaffe stays active in the community through coaching basketball, and as a board member of several non-profit organizations.
