Meet Joseph Mattia
Joseph Mattia represents people and families when life insurance companies refuse to pay the benefits they were counting on.
For Joe, that work is personal. Born and raised in a working-class home in South Philadelphia, he grew up understanding the importance of the insurance benefits families rely on when the unexpected happened. Joe’s mother was a member of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, and the benefits provided through her union helped protect his family through life’s emergencies.
That background stayed with Joe. He understands that behind every insurance claim is a real person or family who depends on those benefits during one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
A Philly native through and through, Joe stayed close to home for his education, earning an undergraduate degree from Drexel University with a major in Economics in 2015. Joe continued his education at Drexel, earning his law degree from Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law in 2018.
From the outset of his career, Joe has focused his practice on life insurance disputes, taking on some of the country’s largest insurers. Joe has recovered more than $30 million for his clients, including multiple seven-figure recoveries from wrongfully denied life insurance claims. He also represents consumers through class actions and has successfully obtained class certification in New Jersey on behalf of thousands of life insurance policyholders.
While Joe is proud of those results, some of the accomplishments that mean the most to him cannot be measured in dollars. They are the cards, letters, and reviews from former clients thanking him for helping their families when they needed someone in their corner.
