Biography Overview

Jake Sternberger was born in Pittsburgh and raised with the values of working people like his machinist grandfather who worked for a mill roll manufacturer; his father who worked for an industrial instruments manufacturer; and his mother who worked in medical billing and coding.

Mr. Sternberger attended a public high school where he was elected President of his class and received an academic scholarship to attend Dickinson College, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in just three years, with both a B.A. in Political Science and a certificate in Security Studies. He received various departmental honors, including the Bruce Andrews Prize in Political Science as well as the Charles and Alice Mullin Memorial Prize. After college, Mr. Sternberger returned to western Pennsylvania to work for Congressman Mark’s Critz’s re-election campaign.

Mr. Sternberger then earned his Juris Doctor at the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, where he received the Falvello Memorial Award and graduated in the top quarter of his class. While in law school, Mr. Sternberger managed Mayor Tim Scott’s historic election as the first African American mayor of Carlisle and the first Democrat in over three decades. During his final year of law school, Sternberger co-authored former Navy Admiral and U.S. Congressman Joe Sestak’s policy book, “Walking in Your Shoes to Restore the American Dream,” which the Washington Post noted as “filled with policy proposals.” After law school, Mr. Sternberger served as Admiral Sestak’s campaign manager in his run for U.S. Senate.

Mr. Sternberger joined Morgan & Morgan’s Philadelphia office in January, 2017. He is admitted to practice in all state courts in Pennsylvania, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Sternberger is a current board member of the Pennsylvania Alliance and serves on the Future Leaders Section of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice.
