J. Gregory Frye


Biography Overview

J. Gregory Frye has been an attorney working with Social Security claimants since 1998 and has handled 1000s of successful cases for clients. He learned the Social Security Disability practice in Somerset, Kentucky where he grew up. He has spent the last 20 years in Michigan before returning to the Commonwealth to join Morgan & Morgan. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Government and Economics from Center College of Kentucky and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. He graduated from Thomas M Cooley Law School with his Juris Doctorate and is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and State Bar of Michigan. While in law school, he clerked for two years for twelve Administrative Law Judges with the State of Michigan.

Mr. Frye has been involved in many aspects of the law having worked in general practice offices for 5 years until he specialized in Social Security disability law. In the last 24 years, he has handled cases at the initial stages through Federal Court, but his favorite part of the practice is the hearing stage. He really enjoys the personal interaction between his clients and helping them improve their financial situations.

Outside of the law practice, Mr. Frye has been a registered leader in the Boy Scouts of America, a past president of the Hillsdale (MI) Kiwanis club, the president of Key Opportunities in Hillsdale (a non-profit sheltered workshop) and is the past Chair of the Social Security Lawyer Section of the State Bar of Michigan having been on the Board since 2007. He is the 2022 recipient of the Mike Dudley Service Award to the Section. Mr. Frye has also published several articles in the Encyclopedia of Civil Liberties and American Federalism: An Encyclopedia.
