Meet Cecilia Lavrin-Hauge

Cecilia Lavrin-Hauge built the foundation of her professional life in healthcare, beginning her career as a registered nurse. Caring directly for patients gave her an intimate understanding of clinical standards, patient safety protocols, and the devastating physical and emotional impacts of severe medical errors. Driven to combine her medical expertise with legal advocacy, Cecilia transitioned into the legal field, dedicating what has become more than thirty years of practice to navigating complex medical negligence claims.

Early in her legal journey, Cecilia served as defense counsel for healthcare providers and later held the pivotal role of Director of Risk Management for a regional hospital. These leadership and defense positions offered her an invaluable, behind the scenes view of hospital administration, internal review processes, and the strategic methods institutions use to evaluate liability. Recognizing how difficult it is for everyday patients to challenge large medical facilities, Cecilia made the heartfelt decision to switch sides, devoting her career entirely to championing injured individuals and their families.

Throughout her extensive career, Cecilia has mastered every phase of medical malpractice litigation. She guides each case with meticulous care from the initial client consultation through discovery, expert witness development, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial. Her combined background in nursing, institutional risk management, and courtroom advocacy provides her with a rare, comprehensive perspective, allowing her to dissect intricate medical charts and counter defense arguments with remarkable precision.

Today, Cecilia brings more than three decades of focused experience to Morgan & Morgan, representing clients in Maryland and soon expanding her practice to the District of Columbia. Known for her warmth, empathy, and approachable demeanor, Cecilia takes pride in being a reassuring presence for families navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She remains passionately committed to patient safety and accountability, working tirelessly to ensure that individuals harmed by healthcare negligence receive the support, dignity, and compensation they deserve.

Outside of her legal practice, Cecilia splits her time between Maryland’s Western Shore during the workweek and her home on the Eastern Shore on weekends with her husband. She loves experiencing new cultures through domestic and international travel and enjoys discovering new cuisines and restaurants together with her husband. An outdoor enthusiast, Cecilia can often be found kayaking and boating along the Choptank River, taking long walks with her dog, or relaxing at home with her cat, who firmly prefers to skip the neighborhood strolls.
