Meet Bruce H. Powell

Bruce Powell was born and raised in Baltimore and has deep roots in the area.   After graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Government and Politics, he received his J. D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1994.  After working for a year at a small general practice law firm handling a variety of claims, including auto accidents, workers compensation and slip and fall cases,  Bruce took a job at a boutique firm in Baltimore City that exclusively represented the victims of childhood lead paint poisoning, which had been negatively impacting the city’s poorest neighborhoods for decades.  There, he learned the ins and outs of lead paint litigation and had the opportunity to try numerous complex civil cases to verdict before Baltimore City juries.

In 2004, Bruce joined a large local firm that had previously been solely focused on asbestos litigation.  The firm had just started a lead paint poisoning litigation practice at that time and brought Bruce on to help them grow their practice.  Over the ensuing years, the firm’s practice grew to become one of the largest and busiest lead paint practices in Baltimore.  Along the way, Bruce obtained tens of millions of dollars in settlements on behalf of his clients.  He also obtained dozens of substantial verdicts for children injured by lead.

Bruce is a former board member and past president of the Loyola Blakefield Alumni Association.   He is a member of the American Association of Justice, the Maryland Association for Justice, and the Maryland State Bar Association.  He is admitted to practice law in Maryland, Washington, D.C., the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Bruce lives in Baltimore City and is the proud father of three sons.  When he is not working, he enjoys coaching his sons’ lacrosse teams, skiing and seeing live music.
