Meet Alexis E. Urquiza
Alexis Urquiza built the discipline and resilience that define his legal practice as a Division I wrestler at North Carolina State University. Competing at one of the nation’s premier collegiate wrestling programs required relentless preparation, mental toughness, and the ability to perform under high pressure. These early athletic experiences laid a strong foundation for his future career, instilling in him the drive to stand up and fight for others when the stakes are highest.
Driven to translate those principles into a career in advocacy, Alexis went on to pursue his legal education at St. Thomas University College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor while distinguishing himself as both an exceptional scholar and a skilled courtroom advocate. Upon graduating, he launched his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender with the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. In this high-volume role, he represented hundreds of individuals through every stage of criminal litigation, handling evidentiary hearings, negotiating resolutions, and trying cases before juries. This intense trial experience reinforced his core belief that every single client deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and fiercely protected.
Building on his extensive trial background, Alexis transitioned his practice to civil litigation, carrying forward the simple principle that every person deserves someone willing to stand up for them. Over the course of his civil career, he has focused on representing clients seeking justice after facing life-changing injuries, financial hardship, or profound uncertainty. He understands that effective advocacy requires more than just mastering legal strategy; it means truly listening to each client's unique story and aggressively pursuing the full compensation they need to rebuild.
