The following product recalls have been announced this week—make sure you’re in the know.

Unit Pack Power (UPP) E-bike Batteries

Unit Pack Power (UPP) E-bike Batteries are being recalled due to fire and burn hazards, as well as a risk of serious injury and death. Thirteen people in the United States reported the battery overheated, including seven reports of fire and substantial property damage. The batteries reportedly were also involved in multiple fires in the United Kingdom.

 

Boppy Newborn Loungers

The Boppy Company has recalled over 3 million Original Newborn Loungers, Boppy Preferred Newborn Loungers, and Pottery Barn Kids Boppy Newborn Loungers after 8 Infant Deaths due to suffocation. Infants can suffocate if they roll, move, or are placed on the lounger in a position that obstructs breathing, or roll off the lounger onto an external surface, such as an adult pillow or soft bedding that obstructs breathing. 

 

Abbot Laboratories’ HeartMate 

Abbott Laboratories’ Thoratec Corp. is recalling 13,883 HeartMate II and HeartMate 3 Left Ventricular Assist Systems due to a possible buildup of “biological material” that can obstruct the device and keep it from properly pumping blood. The accumulation usually happens over two years or more.

 

Ford Bronco Sport and Maverick Vehicles

Ford is recalling more than 450,000 compact SUVs and pickup trucks in the United States because they might lose drive power resulting from a battery issue. The models affected include Ford Bronco Sport SUVs made between 2021 to 2024 and the Ford Maverick pickups made between 2022 to 2023, specifically totaling 456,565 units.
