Tendon Ruptures
A tendon rupture is a tear in a tendon. A complete tear is a very serious injury and requires surgery. A rupture occurs when too much pressure is put on a tendon. This can happen while performing activities that require sudden movement or heavy lifting.
In the first few days after a tendon rupture, bleeding may still be present. Tendon ruptures are classified as a contraindication, which means they should not be massaged because it will only cause more damage to the injury and slow the healing process. A massage increases bleeding and damage when there is a tendon rupture. Two or three days after injury, a massage may be possible, but it depends on the severity of the injury.
