From 2006 to 2007, there were 85 deadly auto accidents in Tampa, Florida. Approximately 90 people were killed in these car accidents and nearly 140 vehicles were involved. While only five of these accidents were caused by drunk drivers, Hillsborough County saw nearly 6,000 alcohol-related crashes during the past three years. In 2007 alone, Hillsborough County had more than 1,900 alcohol-induced auto accidents, the highest out of all the Florida counties. Also, more than 900 Hillsborough County residents were hospitalized after being involved in a motor vehicle accident during 2007.
