Special Disability Trust Fund
The Florida Legislature created the Special Disability Trust Fund in 1955 to advocate for disabled workers. Some of the fund’s primary goals include:
Encouraging the hiring of workers with permanent physical ailments.
Informing employers of the fund’s existence and the purpose it serves.
Reimbursing employers or their carriers for paying out too much in workers’ compensation benefits to an employee with a foregoing impairment who is later injured in a covered workers’ compensation mishap.
Verifying the eligibility of reimbursement claims.
Auditing and processing applications for reimbursement.
