Workers Compensation

Special Disability Trust Fund

The Florida Legislature created the Special Disability Trust Fund in 1955 to advocate for disabled workers. Some of the fund's primary goals include:

  • Encouraging the hiring of workers with permanent physical ailments.
  • Informing employers of the fund's existence and the purpose it serves.
  • Reimbursing employers or their carriers for paying out too much in workers' compensation benefits to an employee with a foregoing impairment who is later injured in a covered workers' compensation mishap.
  • Verifying the eligibility of reimbursement claims.
  • Auditing and processing applications for reimbursement.
