Workers Compensation
Special Disability Trust Fund
The Florida Legislature created the Special Disability Trust Fund in 1955 to advocate for disabled workers. Some of the fund's primary goals include:
- Encouraging the hiring of workers with permanent physical ailments.
- Informing employers of the fund's existence and the purpose it serves.
- Reimbursing employers or their carriers for paying out too much in workers' compensation benefits to an employee with a foregoing impairment who is later injured in a covered workers' compensation mishap.
- Verifying the eligibility of reimbursement claims.
- Auditing and processing applications for reimbursement.
