Muscle Ruptures

A muscle rupture is a tear in a muscle. A rupture occurs when too much pressure is put on a muscle. This can happen when there is any kind of sudden movement or heavy lifting.

In the first few days after a muscle rupture, bleeding may still be present. Muscle ruptures are classified as a contraindication, which means they should not be massaged because it will only causes more damage to the injury and slow the healing process. A massage increases bleeding and damage when there is a muscle rupture. Two or three days after injury, a massage may be possible, but it depends on the severity of the injury.
