State Hospital Rankings
A new report reveals that where you live may have a major impact on the quality of healthcare you will receive when admitted to the hospital.
Every state, including the ones at the bottom of the list, has hospitals that provide excellent and poor care. It's fairly confusing when you consider that hospital care differs depending on what your ailment is. For example, if you suffer a heart attack in Mississippi, you are likely to be in more danger than if it happened in Colorado.
So, how do you know if you're getting the quality of hospital care you deserve? The sixth annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America Study reports that the level of healthcare offered by our nation's hospitals greatly differs between states, taking the District of Columbia into account as well.
The survey rates almost 5,000 hospitals across the country on 26 common procedures and conditions, and the results exhibit that northern states and those of lower population offer superior hospital care.
