Restaurant Workers

Garbage

Litter and garbage are strictly prohibited on restaurant premises. Restaurants must have the sufficient number of garbage containers adequate to holding all trash generated by the facility. Waste should never be hosed down the drain. All food scraps should be placed in a waste container or garbage bags and deposited in outside dumpsters.

Garbage containers or dumpsters should have tight fitting covers, for receiving and holding trash without leakage or escape of odors, and should only be filled within four inches of the top. Containers should not be left open with overflowing garbage. If this scenario recurs frequently, it means that the restaurant does not have sufficient garbage containers. Dumpsters can be rented from the city or private waste removal companies.
