Farm Labor


Before you can become eligible to be a farm laborer, you must take the Florida Farm Labor Contractor Test. Once you've passed the test, you will receive the Florida Farm Labor Contractor Certificate of Registration. Two versions of the 60-question true/false test can be administered; you have the option of taking the written test or oral test in English, Spanish, or Haitian-Creole. The signup fee is $35 per test.

Am I eligible to take the test?

Before you decide to register for the Florida Farm Labor Contractor Test, there are a number of requirements that you must meet:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States or have legal authorization to work in the US.
  • Must be free of any convictions of the following crimes over the past five years:
    • Gambling
    • Any crime related to selling, distributing, or possessing alcohol while on a farm contracting job
    • A felony involving robbery, bribery, extortion, embezzlement, grand larceny, burglary, arson, drug violations, murder, rape, assault with deadly intentions, prostitution, peonage, or hiding illegal aliens from authorities.
  • Must have no outstanding Unemployment Compensation (UC) or Internal Revenue Service (IRS) taxes
  • Must not owe any federal or state civil money penalties
  • Must have an up-to-date Federal Farm Labor Contractor/Employee License

How do I register?

To apply for the license, there is a nonrefundable $125 fee. On your application, you must name a Registered Agent that will accept legal documents on your behalf.
