Facet Joint Pain
The facet joints help to support weight and control movement amongst the spine's vertebrae. Pain in the joint can be caused by inflammation of the joint or impingement of a nerve in the area.
Back muscle spasms are a common symptom of facet joint injury. Oftentimes, there will be acute and abrupt moments of pain that momentarily make moving the back impossible. This can happen without warning after bending down or twisting the back.
