Electrical Safety Clothing
OSHA's electrical standards require the use of the following personal protective equipment to minimize potential hazards:
- Insulated tools
- Voltage rated gloves
- Rubber insulated gloves
- Rubber insulated roll blanket material
- Arc flash face shield
- Arc flash clothing
- Oil resistant safety shoes with nonskid soles and heels
It is also important to avoid wearing jewelry or watches when working with electricity, as metals conduct electricity, and clothing that restricts movement or loose clothing that can get caught in equipment. Workers should also secure long hair with a rubber band or hair net.
