You do not necessarily need an appointment to contact the Social Security Administration (SSA). In fact, there are many tasks that you can accomplish over the phone or through their website.
Phone
You can call the Social Security Administration during normal business hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday at 1-800-772-1213. Recorded information and other automated services are accessible from a touchtone phone any time of the day, including weekends and holidays. The TTY number can be reached by the deaf or hearing impaired at 1-800-325-0778 during these same hours, excluding weekends and holidays. Upon calling the SSA, make sure to have your Social Security number readily available.
Local office
If you cannot resolve a problem over the phone, contact a local Social Security office. You can find an office using the Social Security Office Locator or by visiting a Regional Home Page on www.ssa.gov. Keep in mind that all offices are closed on federal holidays.
If you are unable to find the answer that you're looking for by phone or in person, the next step would be to write to the Office of Public Inquiries at:
Social Security Administration
Office of Public Inquiries
Windsor Park Building
6401 Security Blvd.
Baltimore, MD 21235
Don't forget to list your Social Security number or claim number on all correspondence.
Online
It is a good idea to consult a social security lawyer prior to contacting the SSA about information involving a claim. A Florida social security disability attorney can help assist you with this process.
