DePuy Hip Implant Defects

The DePuy ASR system utilizes a shallower cup and forgoes the plastic lining usually present in these types of hip replacements. Unfortunately, the friction caused between the two moving parts of the device has reportedly caused pain and injury in many DePuy hip implant users. Metallic debris has rubbed away into some users’ soft tissue, causing DePuy metallosis, and the failure rate of the devices is reportedly higher than expected.
